A Canal and Café Night to Remember
5:15pm - 11:00pm
Summer evenings are a delight in Amsterdam; and your ALLIANCE Team has a special event planned that will provide enjoyable memories for many years to come.
Join us for a perfect evening that will start as we depart our luxurious hotel and are escorted to our own private yacht for a dazzling tour of old Amsterdam's world famous canals. We'll see the sights as locals with our own "A Team" tour guides who have arranged a scrumptious "starter" menu, along with an open bar befitting our group's never-ending pleasure with the good things in life.
After we have relaxed and seen the everlasting images that Amsterdam has to offer we will move on to a justly famous Comedy Café for dinner and the celebrated ALLIANCE Open Bar. Don't worry, these famous standup comics will be ready for you and do their entire routine in English. They also have a few surprises in store for us that will redefine how carefully we will need to use the term "team-building" in the future.
For those who dare, you can linger and stroll around the Leidsplein, a famous square opposite the Café and near to our hotel. Leidsplein is one of Amsterdam's nicest areas with bars, late night restaurants and clubs offering all that this marvelous city is famous for.
Dress code is relaxed, so plan on being comfortable while you have a great time with your friends.
Be sure to add this optional event to your registration so that we know we can guarantee your place.
"Tempo Doeloe in Amsterdam"
6:00pm - 11:00pm - Tempo Doeloe Begins with Dinner Among Friends!
11:00pm - Dawn – Clubbing, Dancing and More: On your own in Amsterdam late night district!
ABCN is proud to announce: Tempo Doeloe in Amsterdam.
As you might remember from your history books, the Dutch once owned the Indonesian islands. Our fathers' fathers' fathers' sailed across the oceans to discover some exciting areas in the East. The VOC ships came home with many precious and expensive goods, such as spices and tea. Amsterdam was mostly built with the money earned in those golden ages.
The Dutch stayed in Indonesia (then called Indië) for a long time -- for better and worse times, we should admit. Only in the second half of the past century did the Republic Indonesia take over and many many Dutch//indien people moved to Holland. The lives of the Dutch and the Indonesian are woven together and almost every Dutch has some relationship to Indonesia, its people and especially, the food!
This night we will treat you to a culinary experience and an amazing flashback in time.
We are invited by Geelvinck Museum and Business Center to visit their beautiful canal houses, just 10 minutes' walking distance from the Marriott Hotel. This most unique business centre is located in a museum, and likely the only one in the world of this kind!
The business centre is located in the middle of town, between two famous canals, the Keizersgracht and the Herengracht. Once you have entered the Geelvinck, you will be thrown back in time, and our host Roland Spek will serve as your personal guide and share amazing stories about the buildings with you. In the middle of the two buildings you will find an oasis – the gardens. With the peaceful serenity of the museum gardens, you will forget you are in the middle of a bustling city! It is easy to imagine yourself to be part of the golden age, especially with the tickling aromas of Tempo Doeloe dancing around your nose...
Here you can relax and celebrate your friendship with ABCN friends. We will enjoy a delicious Indonesian buffet. Drinks are on the house, and we will make sure you get some typical Dutch memories – just leave it to us!
This evening at the Geelvinck, food, drinks, and entertainment are included in your delegate package!
Our evening isn't necessarily over after the planned dinner and entertainment is through. You can linger for drinks or you can create an adventure with your friends as you will be located in the center of Amsterdam's late night hot spots where music, dancing and more are just waiting to be explored as you feel the lasting Tempo Doeloe into the early morning hours.
This event is included in the full meeting registration however please register any additional guests/attendees that you want to invite to this very special evening of friends, fun and entertainment.
Zaanse Schans: A 17th & 18th Century View of the Dutch Countryside
10:30am - 5:00pm
Travel back in time with us to the Golden Age of the Netherlands, to the countryside and the villages that made up the core of Dutch culture and that established one of the greatest trading empires in the world. Life was simpler then and we have set aside our last day together to enjoy some of these simple pleasures together.
If you travel just a few short minutes outside of Amsterdam the world around you changes. Greenery is everywhere, small villages abound, windmills still move the water and art galleries and fine restaurants abound. It is simply amazing and no one visiting the Netherlands should miss this beautiful part of the WorldView Forum.
We have a great day planned with private guides and a variety of ways to get around, including a fun boat ride across to a small island that some say has not changed in almost 300 years. Join us as we explore this evergreen land of windmills, art galleries, fine fresh air dining and peaceful villages. It’s all been organized by your local Alliance Amsterdam Team so you know it will be worthwhile and represent the best that the Netherlands has to offer.
When we get back to our hotel, rest up, because your hosts will be standing by to show you the sights for the evening or point you to wherever you want to go in this marvelous city of culture, clubs and entertainment. |
